40th ANNUAL PEMBROKE REGIONAL SILVER STICK HOCKEY TOURNAMENT: The Art Bogart U18AA, U18B Tier 1 and Tier 2 weekend sponsored by Play It Again Sports and Stacked Pancake House runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 with games at both the Pembroke Memorial Centre and the Pembroke and Area Community Centre. ANNUAL COBDEN SANTA CLAUS PARADE: On Saturday, November 30, start time 1:30 p.m. from the agricultural hall. Renfrew Pipe Band will lead the parade. Santa’s helpers will give out treats along the route!

CHRISTMAS TEA AND BAZAAR: St. Barnabas Church, 80 Glendale in Deep River invites you to its Christmas Tea and Bazaar on Nov. 30 from 1:30 – 4 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy shopping at the bazaar and enjoy a lovely Christmas Tea. 

CHRISTMAS PAST AND PRESENT CONCERT: Celebrate “Christmas Past and Present” with the Pembroke Community Choir at Calvin United Church, in Pembroke. There will be an afternoon concert on Saturday, November 30 at 1:30 p.m., and an evening performance on Sunday, December 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Fleurish in Petawawa, the Customer Care Centre at the Pembroke Mall, and from choir members for just $15. PEMBROKE SANTA CLAUS PARADE OF LIGHTS: Gather the family and catch Pembroke’s annual Santa Claus parade as it makes its way through downtown! The dazzling lights and phenomenal displays by local businesses, schools, teams, churches, and service groups make for a great winter night of fun for everyone! 2024 theme is The Pembroke Express – A Voyage to the North Pole. Saturday, Nov30 at 5:30 p.m., starting from Metro and moving up Pembroke Street until it reaches the North Pole at Festival Hall. 

CHRISTMAS CAROLS, COOKIES, AND CIDER:  Whitewater Historical Society presents Christmas Carols, Cookies and Cider on November 30 at 7 p.m. at St. Aidan’s, 2060 Foresters Falls Rd. in the village of Foresters Falls. Everyone is welcome to an evening of carols and snacks.

HERITAGE CHRISTMAS MARKET: At the Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Centre, 1032 Pembroke St. East. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors, raffle, hot chocolate, cookies, carolling. 

EUCHRE: Petawawa Legion Branch 517 hosts euchre every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome, no membership required! The cost to play is $5. We play a round-robin style and you do not have to bring a partner to play with. You can attend alone or bring others with you. We have volunteers here to fill the tables if necessary so that all who attend can play! There will be prizes, sandwiches and coffee for purchase, and a 50/50 draw.

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP: The Renfrew County Drop-In Parent Support Group for parents and caregivers of children ages 12-25 facing mental health or addiction challenges. COBDEN SENIORS POT-LUCK LUNCHEON: Cobden Seniors Pot-Luck Luncheon, meeting and card games the first Wednesday of each month at noon with the exception of July and August. Held in the basement of the Whitewater Municipal Building, Main Street, Cobden. Access through the parking lot behind the building. Ages 50+.     

FALL CRAFT NIGHTS: The Pembroke Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce Fall Craft Nights, featuring a series of beginner-friendly workshops in collaboration with local businesses. Join us for different crafts every other Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Pembroke Memorial Centre in the activity room. Dec. 4 Christmas Treats Workshop with 7th Heaven Thai Gardens and Norki’s Snack Shack will generously provide treats to snack on while you craft (except on those nights when treats are being made – on Oct. 9 and Dec 4. PEMBROKE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The Pembroke Symphony Orchestra and principal conductor Eve Legault, invite you to attend our Christmas Special concert, Saturday, December 7th at 2 p.m. at Festival Hall, Pembroke. The concert features Starz in Motion dancing and the beautiful voices of Jessica Belanger and Heather Kozuska in excerpts from Hansel and Gretel. KAPASKUHAN FILIPINO CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Philippine Community in Renfrew County is excited to announce the “Kapaskuhan Filipino Christmas Party” on Saturday, December 7 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Shady Nook Recreation Center. PETAWAWA SANTA CLAUS PARADE: The Town of Petawawa invites folks to line the streets along the parade route for a chance to catch a glimpse of Santa and the many lights and decorations during its 2024 Santa Claus Parade. This year’s parade will be happening on Saturday, December 7th, starting at 7 p.m. The parade will travel Petawawa Plaza, Mohns Ave., Doran, Herman St. Murphy Rd., Civic Centre Rd. and then finish at the Civic Centre Parking lot. After the parade, join us for the Tree Lighting Ceremony & the Bright Lights Festival Walk, and the Holiday Outdoor Tailgate Market (market only 4-9 p.m.) all starting in the Petawawa Container Market (Kinhut).

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS AROUND THE WORLD: LV 50+ Fit and Feisty Coffee and Culture Connect. A program to support the social participation and inclusion of residents aged 50+ to meet with peers and learn about diverse cultures and backgrounds within the township and surrounding areas. Local guest speakers from different backgrounds and cultures will present and shre their special holiday traditions, including some of their traditional holiday treats. 10 a.m. at Shady Nook Rec Centre at 80 Richardson Crescent. PEMBROKE WHITE CANE CLUB: The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday. January 29 at 1:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall on Irving Street in Pembroke. The White Cane Club is a local Chapter of the Canadian Council of the Blind (CCB) which is the voice of the Blind in Canada. All blind or partly sighted people along with sighted guides are welcome to join our meetings held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, for more information contact Gerry Frketich at 613-401-0042.
